Manayunk has it all…whether it’s the easy access and proximity to both Center City and the Main Line, quaint downtown main street, dozens of restaurants, shops, and eateries, dog friendly nature, year-round neighborhood events, everything in walking distance, or the ample access to green space, trails, and parks.
There’s tons to see and dozens of parks within just a short distance. Check out the list below:
- Manayunk Canal Tow Path – Part of the Schuylkill River trail, this trail runs all the way to Valley Forge and beyond. Take the Manayunk Tow Path on the other end and you can go all the way to Center City Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Art Museum (currently a short gap in between when heading toward Center City).
- Manayunk Bridge Trail – This trail opened in 2016, and stretches across the iconic pedestrian-only Manayunk bridge connecting Manayunk to Bala Cynwyd and the Cynwyd Heritage Trail. This famous bridge provides unprecedented accessibility and walkability. The Manayunk side sits on Dupont Street and includes a public parking lot for all trail access (limited spots).
- Cynwyd Heritage Trail – Take the Manayunk Bridge trail over to the Cynwyd Heritage trail and enjoy this ~1.8 mile beautiful trail. Explore a paved path or non paved natural path.
- Wissahickon Valley Park – The Wissahickon Valley Park spans 1,800 acres of Philly’s park system and is one of the largest urban parks in the country. Easy access from Manayunk on the east end of Main Street at the intersection of Kelly Drive and Ridge Avenue. There’s 57 miles of trails but perhaps the flattest, most famous is the 5.3 mile Forbidden Drive.
- Pretzel Park – Pretzel Park is a great local neighborhood park and includes a playground and dog run. It is also a frequent place of many events including a farmer’s market throughout much of the warm months.
- Roxborough Pocket Park – The Roxborough Pocket park is a newly formed park from a once asphalt lot. Plans include a rain garden boardwalk, food cart and truck vendors at the site, movie projections, yoga classes, farmer’s market, and more.
- Gorgas Park (1.3 miles away – Roxborough) – Home to award winning gardens and over 250 trees and events throughout the year such as summer concerts, movies, and a harvest festival.
- Roxborough Reservoir (3 miles away – Roxborough) – A hidden gem of Philadelphia, The Upper Roxborough Reservoir Preserve is a stunning 35 acre site. A great place to enjoy, walk dog, or go running. The entrance is on the intersection of Port Royal Ave and Lare St.
- Fairmount Park (3.6 miles away) – Fairmount Park is a massive park (over 2,000 acres) that is easily accessible from the Manayunk Tow Path. Explore all the Fairmount Park has to offer including the Japanese Gardens, Horticulture Center, Boat House Row, Historic Mansion, trails, Please Touch Museum, and more.
