Zillow.com rated Manayunk the #5 Most Loved Neighborhood in the entire United States. Out of Tens of Thousands of Neighborhoods across the United States of America, this makes Manayunk one of America’s Most Loved Neighborhoods.

Let’s take a look at the benefits of living in Manayunk, and why this neighborhood is so adorned.

  1. Proximity to BOTH Main Line and Center City – You are centrally located and get the benefits of both the Main Line and Center City Philadelphia – while having your own downtown Main Street (with lots of shopping and restaurants). You also have easy access to other Philadelphia Neighborhoods such as Chestnut Hill, Roxborough, South Philadelphia, and Northeast Philadelphia. A quick weekend day trip to Center City? No problem, just hop in the car or take the train, and you can be there in 20 minutes.
  2. Close Proximity to Highway – What some refer to as ‘Manayunk’ is often actually in Roxborough, but most areas in the core of Manayunk give easy access to the I-76 highway (which you can take East toward Center City and West toward the nearby Main Line).
  3. Great Public Transportation – You can take the Manayunk Train directly to Center City or University City Philadelphia which can be a great option for those commuting or simply looking for endless weekend fun.
  4. Award-Winning Restaurants – Manayunk has some of the best restaurants in the City. In fact, USA Today named Manayunk the #7 Best Small-Town Food Scene in the country.
  5. Quiet Suburban Atmosphere – You get the convenience of city living with dozens of restaurants, shops, and cafes, but with the quietness and serenity of a more suburban residential neighborhood. There’s nothing like walking down Main Street with a cup of coffee on a crisp Fall today and hearing the birds chirping and leaves blowing in the background.
  6. Great Trails & Outdoor Lifestyle – Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast or simply like to walk outside, Manayunk has it. After all, one of the town’s slogans is “All Trails Lead to Manayunk”. A short visit, and you’ll see why. You can head out your door for a walk, bike, or run down the beautiful Manayunk Tow Path (which eventually connects up to Valley Forge). Take the Manayunk Tow Path on the other end and go past the intersection of Kelly Drive and you can go all the way to the Philadelphia Art Museum. There is also a new Bridge Trail stretching across the Manayunk Bridge. From there, you can hop on the Cynwyd Heritage Trail. Wissahickon Valley Park, one of the largest parks in the country, is also a short walk away.
  7. Main Street Has It All – Main Street and has all of the essentials including restaurants, shops, fitness boutiques, cafes, and more. Less Driving, More Living.
  8. Dog Friendly – Lots of dog and pet-friendly places up and down Main Street along with several dog parks including Pretzel Park and Roxborough Dog Park.  There is a bakery on Main Street serving up canine-friendly treats aptly named “Pet-Friendly Dog Bakery”, and even a dog social club
  9. More Space – Generally speaking, you get a lot more space and value compared to Center City. Although most of the housing stock is older, there are some complete remodels and even new construction available. Prices are more affordable in Manayunk compared to Center City generally speaking.
  10. Lots of Neighborhood Pride – There may be no community in the entire City with a longer lineup of consistent year-round events than Manayunk. All season long Manayunk has events, including the STREAT Food Festival, Restaurant Week, Cocktail Week, Arts Festival, Halloween in Manayunk, Stroll the Street, and more.
  11. Great Fitness & Health Culture – Hotbox Yoga, Never Give Up Personal Training, Dance Fitness, Yoga on Main, Cross Fit, Sweat Fitness, Boxing, and more, there are fitness boutiques all around Main Street. There are even running clubs too. The Philadelphia Runner (shop on Main Street) organizes group runs of 3 to 5 miles on select days during the week.
  12. Active Entertainment – Most small towns lack entertainment options, but not Manayunk. You can enjoy a movie at the United Artists on Main Street, see a show at the Venice Island of Performing Arts or Locks at Sona, an exhibit at the Manayunk Roxborough Art Center, or hop over to a brewery. Also, you are only 15 minutes away from Center City.
  13. It’s on the Water – Most of Main Street is directly off the Schuylkill River which provides a beautiful backdrop and great amenity for the neighborhood.
  14. You can Fish and kayak – Hidden River Outfitters has kayaking tours and rentals along the Schuylkill River departing. Fishing is also common on the Canal where you’ll find catfish, bass, perch, and more.
